Sports Program

The sports program at Faith Community Christian High School is an integral part of the development of our students.  It instills in our young men and women integrity, teamwork, discipline, and Christian fellowship.  FCCHS students are required to maintain at least a 2.5 average and have no “F” in any class to be academically eligible to participate in sports.  Therefore, our student athletes learn how to budget their time and stay on top of their classroom assignments.

Boys Soccer

This year’s boys soccer team compiled an impressive record of 21 wins against only 5 losses.  The team reached ultimate success when they won the Division II state championship at the Missouri Christian School Athletic Association (MCSAA) tournament in Joplin, Missouri.  Nick Balassi, Caleb Arb and Jesse Jauernig were selected for the MCSAA All-State team.  The soccer team also won 2nd place at the Christian High School tournament, 3rd place at the Faith Community tournament and 3rd place at the Christian Fellowship tournament in Columbia, MO.  The team is coached by Mike Murphy who is highly respected by both players and other coaches.  Coach Murphy brings a high level of integrity and competitive spirit to our soccer program.

Girls Cheerleading

cheerThe girls cheerleading squad also scored an impressive victory in this summer’s cheerleading competition.  At the National Cheerleading Association Competition, our girls finished in first place as the top team and were also awarded “Most Improved” team.  The cheerleading squad is coached by Shari Roberts and is assisted by Julie Burgess and Whitney Gwaltney, who encourage the girls to excel while helping them to develop into Godly young women.

Boys Basketball

basketballFaith Community’s varsity basketball team starts its 2007 season on November 13th with an away game against Westminster-Edwardsville.  Our homecoming game is November 16th against Heartland School.  The boys are working hard under the Christ-centered direction of Coach Paul Lewis and assistant coaches Matt Halim and James Sparkman.  The varsity team will play 17 regular season games and participate in three tournaments.  FCCHS also has a boys junior varsity team which has a 10 game schedule.

Boys Baseball

baseballThe boys baseball team returns many of the players from last year’s Life Christian team which was the 2006 Co-Conference Champion and winner of the MAACS tournament in Kansas City.  The team is coached by James Sparkman, who played college baseball.  We are expecting great things from the boys baseball team.

Co-ed Bowling

bowlingFaith Community has two bowling teams that participate in the St. Louis area high school league.   Coach Warren Mehrtens and his staff encourage our students to improve their bowling skills and make it an enjoyable experience.

Girls Sports

Due to the limited number of girls currently at the school (eight), FCCHS does not have a girls volleyball, basketball or soccer team at this time.  However, we anticipate increased female enrollment next year and fully expect to have our girls teams up and running for the 2008-2009 school year.  Coach Tony Pellerito, a former goalie, has already volunteered to coach the girls soccer team.
