Faculty Additions
We are excited about two new additons to our FCCHS Faculty for the 2009-2010 second semester school year.
We welcome Serena McCarthy to teach Contemporary Literature, our senior English class . Ms. McCarthy is an experienced English teacher who will bring academic excellence and her own unique perspective to the study of Literature.
We also welcome Kenny Hinrichsen to the FCCHS staff as our new athletic director. He will be working alongside Paul Lewis to provide oversight to our athletic program. For the past three years, Coach Hinrichsen has been coaching our Baseball and Track Teams.
New Board Members
We are very pleased to announce the addition of our two newest School Board members, Bob Balassi and Mike Eaton. Bob and Mike each have extensive experience serving on the board of not-for-profit organizations in addition to their many years of business experience. The Lord continues to bless FCCHS with talented individuals who have a heart of service.
CSI Accreditation
We are excited to announce that we have formally been accepted as candidates for accreditation by Christian Schools International (CSI). This is the first major step
toward becoming fully accredited. If you would like to know about this organization, you can
check them out on the web at www.csionline.org.
We have also joined the Christian School Association of St. Louis, a network of local Christian schools who collaborate to provide quality K-12 Christian education in the greater St. Louis area.
ACT Workshops
On December 3rd and 4th, 2008 we sponsored our first school-wide ACT Prep workshop. Students had the opportunity to take practice tests in each of the four subject areas. Teachers led workshops in each subject area covering the concepts, content, and format of each test. The ACT is a vital step in the process of earning scholarship dollars for college. The dates for the ACT workshops this year are September 30 through October 2, 2009
2008-2009 Sports Achievements
Congratulations to the members of our basketball team and cheer squad who were
recognized for the outstanding achievement in Joplin: Zach Dummerth was selected for
the first All-State Team and the first Conference team in Joplin. Jesse Jauernig was named for the
second All-State team and second Conference team. Both Boys were voted to the first Conference All-State Game. Our basketball team finished in 4th place overall. Darraugh Roberts was named to the
1st team for Cheerleaders.
Our 2008-2009 varsity boys soccer team successfully defended their championship at the State Tournament in Joplin on October 23-25. We congratulate our boys for a great season.
FCCHS' 2008-2009 Bowling team finished 4th (out of about a dozen schools) in their division. Amber Gielow
finished 2nd in the girls division. Also, Jake Hart finished second in the Family Tournament.
The 2009 baseball Spartans won the TRCCA Conference Championship with a perfect conference record and 8-4 mark overall. The Spartans were led by senior Zach Dummerth who was named Conference Player of the Year for his outstanding season on the mound and at the plate. In addition to Player of the Year, the Spartans also garnered 3 All-Conference Player nominations with Dummerth, sophomore Jesse Jauernig, and senior Aaron Tate; and a Second Team All-Conference nomination with sophomore Nate Dummerth. Coach Kenny Hinrichsen was named Conference Coach of the Year. Congratulations to all the Spartan players on a successful 2009 baseball season.
