Lawrence Trokey
Music, Visual Arts, Introduction to Graphic Design, Praise & Worship Band
Lawrence Trokey graduated with honors from Webster University with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Communications. For 15 years, he worked in the field of Marketing with a special emphasis in graphic design and project management. Most recently, Mr. Trokey was a Senior Advertising Communication Specialist for one of the top flooring wholesalers in the country, were he taught numerous sales and marketing seminars.
At his church he serves as an Elder and plays guitar for the worship team. Mr. Trokey also is a member of a contemporary Christian music band and performs at local church services, coffee houses and church festivals.
Kathleen Balassi
Drama
Kathleen Balassi has been actively involved with music, theater, and dance since early childhood. Some of her favorite roles have included: Guenevere in Camelot, Minnie Faye in Hello Dolly, Rosamund in The Robber Bridegroom, Fiona in Brigadoon, Nellie in South Pacific, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Marian in The Music Man, and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Mrs. Balassi graduated summa cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater. She has performed professionally in the Palace Theater at Six Flags Over Mid America and St. Louis Union Station She has been singing with The Caroling Party for 4 seasons and was recently featured as one of the Carolers in Disney's Train Tour of the movie "A Christmas Carol" at Union Station and Busch Stadium. While raising and homeschooling her five children has been her primary role the past 21 years, she has continued to sing as a soprano soloist in cantatas, weddings, and many other venues.
Along with her husband Bob, Mrs. Balassi has ministered through music, dance, and drama on 4 mission trips to Russia and is featured on five worship CDs. She currently leads worship with her musicalfamily at the Gateway House of Prayer and at Southgate Church. Mrs. Balassi has been teaching at Motion Express School of Dance and Acrobatics for over 15 years, and teaches private voice in her home. She believes God gives us gifts/talents to bring glory to Jesus. She hopes to inspire FCCHS students to use drama as a vehicle to share the gospel.
Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to help students communicate expressively and effectively through the dramatic arts. Attention will be given to body language as well as vocal tone, diction, projection, and expression. Students will also learn basic stage directions and vocabulary through interactive exercises and skits. Students will have the opportunity to perform monologues and scenes at FCCHS chapel services, Christmas program, and spring program.
